The Utica Comets are a professional ice hockey team based in Utica, New York. They are members of the North Division of the Eastern Conference of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Comets won the AHL's Western Conference Championship and appeared in the Calder Cup Finals in just their second year or existence. Since 2013-14 season, the team plays at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, as the AHL affiliate of the National Hockey Leagues Vancouver Canucks. The Comets are the second hockey team to call Utica home; the Utica Devils played in the city from 1987-1993. The Comets, and Utica, NY, played host to the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic in late January. Through the course of the weekend, the team and city drew rave reviews from local, and national media outlets.

The Utica Comets are dedicated to improving Central New York with local involvement through our organization providing assistance for a magnitude of community events. The Community Relations department focuses an immense amount of effort on the development and instrumental growth of local youth through the sport of hockey. The Utica Comets are proud to support local programs to benefit the greater good through a number of different activities and special events. Specific community activities the organization is involved in include classroom visits, youth hockey clinics, hospital visits, holiday volunteering, and donations through autographed memorabilia, among many other opportunities. The Utica Comets community relations department strives to benefit the well being and overall atmosphere of the greater Mohawk Valley.
