Right on the Erie Canal in Rome — great picnic spots, open space, easy walking along the water.

Delta Lake State Park

Swimming, picnic areas, and beautiful lake views. A perfect afternoon if the weather cooperates.

Waterfall hike

Pixley Falls State Park

A beautiful waterfall with picnic areas nearby. Short walk, big payoff — kids love it.

Evening — back to Sylvan Beach for dinner

Return to the hotel, freshen up, and head out for a casual dinner by the water. No reservation needed.

Another evening walk, another ice cream if the kids ask. After a full day outdoors, simple is exactly right.

Utica museums, parks & the road home

Check out and start the morning in Utica. Yummilicious Café & Bakery is a local favorite when open (Thu–Sun, check hours). A sweet, slow start before the final stretch.

Let the kids run it out before the drive home. Roscoe Conkling Park has open meadows and easy paths. A peaceful send-off for the whole family.
