Oneida County Events, Opportunities, and Experiences: February 2026

Oneida County has something for everyone this February. From live music, to family-fun activities, and a plethora of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors—this is a can’t-miss month in Oneida County! Several featured events and activities are details below, followed by a comprehensive list of all opportunities to experience the wonder of winter in Oneida County.

Featured Seasonal Activities

Snowshoe through the Utica Zoo

  • Trek through snow-covered habitats. Rental snowshoes available for $4/hr.
  • Requirements: Minimum 6 inches of snow required; call ahead to confirm trail status.
  • Location: 33 Utica Zoo Way, Utica, NY

Cabin Fever Limited Train (Adirondack Railroad)

  • Dates: February 7, 21, & 28
  • Time: Departs at 12:00 PM (Approx. 3 hours)
  • Details: Trip from Utica to Remsen Depot for a campfire, cocoa, and s’mores.
  • Cost: $25 – $75 per person.

6th Annual Snow Moon Snowshoe Hike

  • Dates: Sunday, Feb 1 & Monday, Feb 2
  • Time: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Location: The Root Farm, 2860 King Rd, Sauquoit, NY

Black River Environmental Improvement Association Trails (BREIA)

  • Experience: Explore more than 30 miles of meticulously groomed trails perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Individual trail maps are linked below, if available, or check out the full BREIA trail map.
  • Warming Huts: Open daily from dawn to dusk at Potato Hill Farm, Egypt Road, and Jackson Hill Sunfield.
  • Equipment: Free cross-country ski and snowshoe loans are available at Potato Hill Farm on weekends (10 a.m. – 3 p.m. or 4 p.m.) Additionally, Free ski and snowshoe loans are available via the Boonville Search and Rescue (located in the Headwaters/Tops Plaza on Route 12).
  • Cost: Access to all trails and facilities is free (provided as a gift to the community).
  • Note: Dogs are permitted only on the Canal Trail during the winter season.

2026 Home Show @ Nexus Center

  • Dates: Sat, Jan 31 (9 AM – 6 PM) & Sun, Feb 1 (9 AM – 4 PM)
  • Location: Utica University Nexus Center, 300 Oriskany St W, Utica
  • Admission: Adults $10 ($8 advance); Seniors/Military/First Responders $8; Kids 16 & under Free.

2026 Utica Anime Fest

  • Date: Saturday, Feb 28
