Oneida County Tourism named Business of the Year
Oneida County Tourism was named Business of the Year by The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce in the ‘Not-For-Profit Organization with 50 employees or fewer’ category at their annual award ceremony on December 12th. The Chamber honored 14 area companies and organizations at Twin Ponds Golf and Country Club. Over 300 business professionals attended the event.
Awards were presented to winners in five separate categories. Finalist were evaluated and selected based on:
Staying power, response to challenges, products/services innovation; growth within their industry
Commitment to the Mohawk Valley Region – longevity in region; community involvement; public service; business leadership and
Involvement in the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce
The Oneida County Convention & Visitors Bureau, dba Oneida County Tourism (OCT), is the County's official tourism promotion agency and is dedicated to building Oneida County's economy and positive image through tourism and convention development, events and the marketing of the county on a global basis. Len Cross, chairman of the OCT board of directors, stated, “Tourism is straight up economic development and the Utica Chamber of Commerce is straight up economic development. Together, we work to promote the growth and prosperity of our community.”
Cross went on to say, “The more visitors who stay in our hotels and motels, the more funds we have to promote visitation. We use these funds in cooperation with our partner counties in Central New York (CNY) and currently rank 5th in visitor spending in the state of New York.”
