As November draws to a close and December is on the horizon, it's that time of year when all kinds of fun holiday entertainment takes place again throughout Oneida County. With craft fairs and shoppers strolls, train rides and Christmas shows, you can be sure Oneida County is in the holiday spirit. It is that time of year again for Rome Art And Community Center's Holiday House Shopping Extravaganza, the nonprofit organization's largest annual fundraiser, showcasing high quality wares from 50 local and regional vendors. Holiday House is held in the Tudor Mansion on 308 West Bloomfield Street in Rome and is beautifully decorated for the holiday season.


Christmas on Main Street

Saturday, November 22, 2014 11:00am to 6:00pm

FREE family event inside Union Station. Refreshments, entertainment, wagon rides and Oneida County Farmers Market and Craft Fair. Followed by Fireworks Extravaganza at Dusk. Bring your camera for free photos with Santa and Mrs.Claus. Presented in part by  the Adirondack Scenic Railroad.


Polar Express

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, November 21-December 2, 2014

Live the magic of the classic POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride story with the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Depart from Utica’s Union Station and travel north, interacting with Santa’s elves and listening to Liam Neeson’s reading of The POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride, by Chris van Allsburg. When you arrive at our North Pole (Holland Patent, NY), Santa will board the train, spending time with each and every family during the return trip and giving children the first present of Christmas (a silver bell, just like in the book or movie)!


36th Annual Sauquoit Valley Fine Arts & Craft Show

Wonderland of Lights

November 26, 2014 thru January 1, 2015 (closed December 24)

The Masonic Care Community hosts the Annual Wonderland of Lights to benefit the Resource Center of Independent Living. The display will kick off on Wednesday November 26th and run through January 1, 2015 (closed Christmas Eve, December 24th)


Annual Victorian Yuletide

November 28, 2014 to January 4, 2015

Celebrate the holiday season with a family visit to Munson Williams Proctor's period rooms in Fountain Elms as the Museum of Art will “Tech the Halls.” The annual Victorian Yuletide exhibition, which opens Friday, November 28, will showcase the “modern” inventions found under Christmas trees in the 19th century. While laptops, iPads, and smart phones are on today’s wish lists, zoetropes and phonographs found their way onto lists in the Victorian era. Inventions and innovations provided the North Pole with requests for new and exciting devices to fill Santa’s sleigh and children’s Christmas stockings. Free and open to the public.


Village of Clinton Shoppers Stroll

Friday November 28, 2014 10:00am to 9:00pm

This popular event offers an opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of the hum-drum shopping centers and malls and to take part in a nostalgic event within the historic Village of Clinton. Complimentary food, drink, hospitality and music will be offered by businesses and community organizations throughout the Village.You can tour the Village by horse drawn carriage while groups of carolers from the area high schools perform throughout the day.  The Blue Spruce tree with over 2,000 lights will be lit at 6:00 PM, preceded by a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' rendered by Mr. Richard Enders. The 50th Annual Holiday Parade begins at 7:00 PM.The parade follows College Street and continues around the Village Green to the Fire House where kids of all ages can sit on Santa's lap and tell him their Christmas wishes.


Fort Stanwix Holiday Open House

It is a long holiday weekend. How will you entertain your guests when the turkey is gone? Why not bring your family and friends to Fort Stanwix National Monument and see the fort in a different light – candlelight. This free event takes place on Saturday, November 29th, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, the staff and volunteers of Fort Stanwix invite you to the park’s Annual Holiday Open House to explore winter through the eyes of an 18th Century Mohawk Valley resident.

The village of Boonville is the stage for this annual parade. Events and entertainment start at 3:00pm and parade kicks off at 5:00pm. Visit Santa and the live reindeer.

The Nutcracker

This seasonal and much-loved ballet will be performed at the Stanley and is presented by the Mohawk Valley Ballet.
