The Dust Devil Band is reuniting for its Annual Fundraising Concert to benefit Unity Hall, Barneveld’s historic 1896 performing arts center. Singer/songwriter J.K. McCluskey will open the show. The performance begins at 6:00pm. Last year the DDB show sold out in one week, so buy your tickets early!
The Dust Devil Band is a piece of Central New York musical history. A staple of the regional music scene in the 70's and 80's, DDB was an anchor at festivals like FUBAR and Full Moon Fest. The band originated from the Waylon and Willie style of Outlaw Country music. Over time DDB emerged with a unique sound that blends blues, southern rock and alternative country.
The DDB is comprised of George Deveny on lead and slide guitar, Darryl Mattison on drums, Dan Porter on base, Ed Rosenburgh on lead vocals, harmonica and rhythm guitar and George Newton on pedal steel guitar.
J.K. McCluskey originally hails from Remsen but has been on the road as a tour manager/troubadour for over a decade. He has spent much of the last 25 years behind the scenes in the music business. Starting out as a drummer/singer in a punk band, he transitioned to a successful career as a DJ and event planner. He returned to this area about six years ago and has been playing primarily country western and writing originals ever since.
Admission for the benefit show will be $10 for Unity Hall Foundation members and $12 for the general public. The doors open at 5:30pm and the concert will begin at 6pm.
Tickets for DDB Benefit may be purchased locally at the Adirondack Cheese Company located at 8190 State Rte. 12, Barneveld. Tickets and information about this and other Unity Hall events are available online at www.unityhall.com and Facebook/HistoricUnityHall.
