Academy-Award Winner Kevin Costner and his Band Modern West will bring their rock and country music to the Turning Stone Event Center. To celebrate the band’s Upstate New York debut, Turning Stone will also host a free three-day film festival showcasing several of Costner’s most beloved and celebrated films in the days leading up to the concert,
Free of charge, the film festival will begin on Thursday, August 17; continue on Friday, August 18 and again on Saturday, August 19 until show time.
Guests will be able to vote on Turning Stone’s Facebook page for the Costner movie they’d like to see most. The movies with the most votes will be shown during the three-day film festival. All guests who attend the film festival will be entered to win the “Kevin Costner and Modern West Celebrity Trip Giveaway,” where one winner will receive an all-expense paid trip for two to Hollywood or Deadwood, SD, where Costner owns a casino named Midnight Star. Two runner-up prize winners will receive Modern West VIP ticket packages.
Formed with Costner’s friends John Coinman and Blair Forward, Modern West blends the sounds of rock and country effortlessly. The band developed a dedicated and enthusiastic fan base over its ten year career through worldwide tours of live shows and four studio albums, including 2012’s Famous for Killing Each Other: Music From and Inspired by Hatfields & McCoys, which peaked at #14 on Billboard’s US Country Chart and at No. 73 on Billboard’s illustrious Top 200 Chart. Kevin Costner and Modern West released their newest single, “Love Shine,” on June 2.
Costner’s film career took off in 1987 with the release of No Way Out and The Untouchables. Following those critical hits were 1988’s Bull Durham, 1989’s Field of Dreams and 1990’s Dances with Wolves – his directorial debut – which won the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director. During the time of the shooting of The Guardian in 2006, Kevin’s wife, Christine, encouraged him to pursue his love of music again. Modern West released its debut album, Untold Truths, in November of 2008. Guests will be able to vote on Turning Stone’s social media channels for a few of the films to be shown before Modern West’s 8 p.m. show on Saturday.
