Winter Sports

We love winter in Upstate New York! Come play in our snow or visit our rinks and arenas which host a full complement of winter sports to enjoy! Oneida County boasts over 500 miles of groomed snowmobiling trails - all maintained by the volunteer efforts of a dozen snowmobiling clubs throughout the county.Catch the fever in this recent article by Supertrax or watch this recent snowmomilbe feature broadcast on Snow Country;  Snowmobile Oneida County

If you need NYS registration for your sled, stop by our office on Saturdays in January and February 2012. THe NYS DMV will be in residence and they can get you registered on the spot.

Downhill ski areas, groomed cross country ski trails, and snow tubing make for exciting and funfilled snow days! Take to the ice for skating at area rinks and outdoor skating parks.

Utica and Rome are a mecca for hockey lovers! Cheer on emerging youth hockey players, skillful collegiate teams, and the pros of the Federal Hockey League.  Utica Memorial Auditorium plays host to local youth hockey leagues, high school and college teams. JF Kennedy Arena in Rome is a regional facility, which is used primarily for ice hockey and figure skating form October through March. The primary users are the Ford Stanwix Hockey Association, a not-for-profit youth hockey organization; Rome Free Academy; Rome Catholic High School; a local figure skating club; and various local groups and organizations as well as the general public.

Don't forget to check our Calendar of Events for games and winter events! Check out the excitement on the ice at the Boonville Snowmobile Races with vintage and professional racing at speeds over 100 miles per hour!
