As the only municipal sports hall of fame with its own museum in New York State, The Rome Sports Hall of Fame and museum offers its visitors many unique experiences. Visitors are welcome to sit in the race car driven by 9 time NASCAR Modified Champion, Richie Evans, or hold Olympic Torch which was carried in 1996 Olympic Torch Relay through Utica, on its way to the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, or to hold the wooden bowling ball that rolled down many lanes in the 1890’s. For the boating enthusiast, available are 3 of the power speed boat driven by 13 time National Racing Champion Dave Packer. Football and baseball fans will enjoy the pictures, uniforms and equipment from Rome’s professional players who participated in the National Football League and in Major League Baseball. Many other opportunities for all sports fans to acquaint themselves with the rich sports history of athletes from our Rome area are also on exhibit.

The museum also contains a wonderful collection of "one of a kind" Sport Arts created by local artists.
